College students from Virginia Baptist Mission Board (VBMB) conducted English activities in summers of 2004 and 2005 in cooperation with Xi'an YMCA. The benefits of such activities are many: Chinese children had a chance to practice speaking English and to learn more about American culture; the Americans had the joy of seeing smiles of success on the faces of their students and also gained cross-cultural experience, All of this enhanced the work of the Xi'an YMCA.
